NRVTA Announces Grand Opening:
On Friday, May 3rd, the National RV Training Academy will hold the grand opening of its brand new 6,000 square foot facility. The Academy, nicknamed the Big Red Schoolhouse, is located a few miles outside Athens, TX, and adjacent to the Texan RV Park which contains 89 RV sites.
TRVA Board Member, Terry Cooper, a.k.a., the Texas RV Professor, is the Managing Director of NRVTA and his long-time business partner, Steve Anderson, owner of Workamper News, serves as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Big Red School House. The Big Red School House also serves as the home of the RV Inspection Connection and the National RV Inspectors Association, both of which Terry and Steve have been instrumental in developing.
TRVA Executive Director Phil Elam commented “…when I was hired by TRVA in 2013, dealers consistently commented about the lack of technician training in our state and I learned about all the efforts which had been expended to develop training programs to no avail. Everyone was disappointed, but at long last the NRVTA has become a reality and it is located not far from the middle of our state and accessible to all dealers. Terry and Steve are to be commended for they have invested tons of money and built what can be termed as a credible resource for the entire RV industry of Texas and the adjoining states. There remains no reason to complain about the lack of training in Texas any longer for it is alive a well in Athens, TX… ”
TRVA anticipates NRVTA will be appointed as a certified training partner of RVIA’s RV Technical Institute, RVTI, soon and will offer the entire accredited course load to potential and future technicians when the course of study is compiled and approved. Those decisions have yet to be made, but in the meantime, NRVTA will continue to offer training courses under the current RVIA/RVDA Technician Training Program.
Dealers should be watching their email for updated training courses which will be announced by NRVTA soon and, as a reminder, TRVA members receive a discount on course registrations.
Congratulations to Terry Cooper for the realization of a lifelong dream come true to create a permanent place to train techs.
